|Following the success of the first international conference on the electronic ePortfolio in Poitiers in 2003 and the national events in the UK and Canada this year, this conference will bring together experts and practitioners from all over the world in to present and discuss progress in this rapidly developing field.|
The eLearning revolution has entered into a new phase: the development of tools and services that, beyond the provision of flexible and innovative learning solutions, offer the means to fully value and empower the individual, the lifelong and lifewide learning citizen. The ePortfolio will soon become vital to the management of human capital and social assets.
It is our belief that in 2010, every citizen will have an ePortfolio; this belief is supported by strong evidence such as the forward looking eLearning policy of Wales, which has already decided that each Welsh citizen will have an ePortfolio, the Italian Ministry of Education that has decided to provide each pupil ar school with an ePortfolio.
In 2010, every citizen will have an ePortfolioToday we are still at the start of exploiting the full potential of the ePortfolio. This conference will provide the opportunity for benchmarking initiatives, technologies and policies (within and beyond Europe), exchanging with experts and practitioners on current and future development, networking with other professionals to establish action plans to enable you to get the full benefit from this promising learning technology.
As education and training professionals you will discover how the e-portfolio can help to enhance:

About ePortfolio 2003, Poitiers France
General feedback from participants has been most enthusiastic. The opportunity to explore this important subject over two days and to see how it is being used in different sectors was clearly appreciated. The challenge of arriving at an acceptable working definition of the e-Portfolio that indicates what it is and what it is not still lies ahead and will be one of the first to be tackled by the European Consortium for the ePortfolio!
Some of the results of ePortfolio 2003
- Progress on interoperability: the EPICC project (European Initiatives Co-ordination Committee)
- Creation of the European Consortium for the ePortfolio (Europortfolio)
- Organisation of national events worldwide to place ePortfolio developments in the national context.
- Work on competencies for ePortfolios
- Development of seminars for different sectors
- Strengthened international links
The conference is available on video. The sound for the first keynote is provided both in French and English, but all other sessions are in English.
