At present our society is confronted with an overflow of information.
Therefore in the information age it is a huge challenge to filter top quality information out of the abundance of information and also to locate the required resources effectively / efficiently.
Instruments like knowledge data bases for Lotus Notes try to overcome this challenge by offering the possibility to deposit fully heterogeneous information objects to various contexts. These knowledge data bases, however, need a special care, e.g. the information objects must constantly be restructured.
In this term paper an instrument for Lotus Notes should be developed that manipulates directly category structures. The modular built-on IBM Workplace Managed Client should serve as the target platform for the plugin.

Im Zeitalter der Informationsgesellschaft ist es eine große Herausforderung zwischen der Vielfalt an Informationen, hochwertige zu filtern oder gar gesuchte Ressourcen präzise zu lokalisieren. Werkzeuge, wie Wissensdatenbanken für Lotus Notes, stellen dabei eine große Unterstützung dar. Sie bieten die Möglichkeit, völlig heterogene Informationsobjekte zu verschiedenen Kontexten abzulegen. Allerdings bedürfen diese Wissensdatenbanken ein hohes Maß an Pflege, wie das ständige Neustrukturieren von solchen Informationsobjekten.

Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit soll ein Werkzeug zur direkten Manipulation von Kategoristrukturen für Lotus Notes entwickelt werden. Der modular aufgebaute IBM Workplace Managed Client soll dabei als Zielplattform dienen.
